Ribitol (Adonitol) occurs naturally in the plant Adonis vernalis, as well as in the cell walls of Gram positive bacteria (specifically, as ribitol phosphate, in teichoic acids).Ribitol (Adonitol) also contributes to the chemical structure of riboflavin.
